Temporoparietal Fascia Graft and Polydioxanone Plate Repair of Nasal Septal Perforation

Background: Surgical repair of septal perforations has been historically cumbersome. Recently described techniques utilizing interposition grafting with polydioxanone (PDS) plates wrapped in a temporoparietal fascia (TPF) graft have reported successful closure 90% to 100% cases. Our objective is expand the investigation into use grafts combined for nasal perforation repair. Methods: Retrospective review medical record was performed all repairs using TPF-PDS plate technique from August 1, 2017 March 2021 at University Iowa. Minimum post-operative follow-up 1 month. Results: series included 31 patients symptomatic perforations. Thirteen underwent open while 18 endonasal placement. The mean size 1.49 cm 2 . 11.5 months. Conclusions: Repair an demonstrated overall success rate 90%.
